Ebert’s blog is getting tougher and tougher to read. Seriously. I have to skim at times to keep from getting too deeply mired in thoughts of mortality. I don’t know how many posts with titles like “Goodbye to all that” with pictures of hourglasses I have the strength to read.

Al Pacino wouldn’t have been the first actor to come to mind if it had been me casting a movie about Henri Matisse (story here). But who knows? Did you see him in that Kevorkian movie?

Which reminds me of this New Yorker profile of Jacobs from a few years ago. Interesting and talented guy.
I really like John Yau’s interviews with artists at Brooklyn Rail. I like his focus on painting and the hype-free tone of the discussions. I’ve learned about a lot of artists through him. Here’s an interview with Lois Dodd from the latest issue.
